Banquet servers , informally known as cater waiters, are wait staff that work for big catering events and banquets. Some banquets servers will have to take orders for each table, if there are multiple meal choices. After service, banquet servers are often responsible for clean up and breakdown of the service. At a minimum, you should plan on tipping 15 percent of your total bill. Typically, a gratuity for a caterer will fall in the range of 15 to 18 percent.
Some customers choose to hand out individual tips to servers and chefs. Pay scales increase with experience. Servers may also earn cash tips in exchange for service. Uniform and Appearance Black dress shoes, black slacks and a white button-up shirt are a common example of uniform requirements for banquet servers.
Other banquet server standards may include restrictions on jewelry items, tattoo visibility or hairstyles.
